Our veteran hematologists analyze all specimens (blood, tissue, bone marrow) within 24 hours, to initiate the diagnosis process. Slides receive special staining as needed to highlight and differentiate cell structures, numbers and abnormalities. The hematopathologist assigned to the case then makes a preliminary diagnosis based on the number, shape and type of cells seen. If an acute form of disease is detected, the hematopathologist will immediately contact the physician so treatment can begin as soon as possible.
